The Wayne Edwards Collection
Wayne Edwards taught math and history courses at Monterey
High School for 33 years. Before coming
to Monterey, he taught at a mission school in the Philippines for a few
years. For more than six decades, he
shared homespun philosophy and a catalog of family activities in an annual
letter to friends. He also managed to
participate in over 200 performances at the California First Theater. He is perhaps best remembered as being an
avid golfer whose caddy was a chow-chow dog.
Mayo Hayes O'Donnell Research Library's holdings include the 64 years of annual letters written by Mr. Edwards. Also available for examination is an unpublished manuscript Mr.Edwards planned as a personal memoir of his life as an educator and traveler. His collection includes hundreds of photographs, many nearly 100 years old, of his army experience, his travels, and of his family. |
