Edith Anne Anthony
Edith Anne Anthony was born in 1876. She graduated from San Jose Normal School and later from Stanford University with a double major in math and physics. She became a school teacher in New Monterey and at Fremont High School in Oakland. She returned to Monterey to care for her mother, and lived in the chalk rock house J.C. Anthony built on David Ave. in Monterey. Edith was an avid outdoorswoman and enjoyed hiking and camping with the Sierra Club. She was also an avid photographer. She died in 1952.
